Champion founder Jim Mercurio offers a discount on his story analysis service to all entrants. Jim has been ranked as one of the country’s top screenplay consultants and has Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated clients. He has produced and/or directed five low-budget features including one he discovered from a contest (Hard Scrambled, starring Kurtwood Smith). Although using the service does not make scripts eligible for resubmission, writers will receive concise feedback on where their screenplays rank relative to the nine previous contests he has judged. Comprehensive Script Analysis
Up to 15 pages of notes that includes intensive analysis on structure, character, story, pace, subplots, theme, dialogue, marketability, individual scenes and action description. Includes 20-minute follow-up phone call.
Both levels of script analysis—Comprehensive and Professional—provide feedback for your rewrite. You will receive notes on structure, character, story, pace, subplots, theme, dialogue, marketability, and action description. Jim will even edit a page as a sample to suggest a more efficient prose style. This service averages 9 to 14 pages of notes, which include several pages of comments on individual pages plus a several-page essay on big-picture concerns. I offer solutions for most problems that I point out. The Comprehensive Script Analysis includes a 20-minute phone call that allows you to clarify any topics, brainstorm solutions, or ask specific questions.

Professional Script Analysis
Averaging 18-20 pages in length, this feedback will cover all of the above plus go into depth on possible solutions and into advanced scene writing craft. Includes a half-hour follow-up phone call.
Professional Script Analysis includes everything the Comprehensive Script Analysis provides but averages 14 to 22 pages of notes. Whereas at the Comprehensive level Jim will show you how to rewrite or make cuts to a few scenes, at the Professional level he gives several scenes individual attention. This service aims to improve your script but also to improve your writing forever. Jim will raise your standards for your material and then flood you with ideas on how to raise your script to meet them. Besides, Script Coaching, this is the probably going to be analysis and attention unlike many writes have ever had.
